Yes and more petrol fuel vehicles spontaneously combust than BEVs.
I believe there are way more cases of BEV's catching on fire due to rapid discharge of the battery due to battery damage than fuel cell explosions. Just sayin'.
Hydrogen is rare but catastrophic.
Wait, so you are bringing up a downside or obstacle of a future tech? Should we call you a naysayer, hater, or Mr Magoo like the BEV fanboys do to anyone who does the same about BEV's?
My company owns a fuel cell manufacturer which makes fuel cells for CNG class 8 vehicles. We are also testing hydrogen fuel cell units. They are a lot safer than many people who have never actually tested them before think. Although, no amount of testing or facts will change the beliefs of a person who has already made up their mind on something.
In another note...... Saw this today on my FB feed. Was too funny not to share. ShinerBock wrote:

I don't think the seat warmers actually use 900 volts. Otherwise yes I am far more at ease with a 900 volt wire running outside the passenger cage than a hydrogen tank. Actually I would rather contend with that 900 volt wire than 9 gallons of gasoline in an accident.time2roll wrote:

But you are comfortable sitting on a 900 Volt wire?

But you are comfortable sitting on a 900 Volt wire? - OK for all the Nikola hydrogen hype it looks like the Badger will have a GM fuel cell. This really says to me Nikola has no real products. No actual technology. Nothing.
Possibly in the phase of pulling out some cash and looking to get absorbed into GM. Looks like GM purchased the name "Badger" and a few concept drawings for 2B$ of stock.
"The bigger part of the deal involves GM's Hydrotec fuel cells, which it developed with Honda Motor Co. GM has more than 50 years of fuel cell expertise dating to the Apollo moonshot in the 1960s. It has yet to commercially produce them."

Most of the hydrogen currently comes from reforming natural gas. Nikola is working on producing hydrogen from solar electric hydrolysis. So in effect it is still mostly "burning" a fossil fuel.
So does it collect its own H2O emissions and electrolysis it back into H for the fuel cell when you leave it parked in the sun?
Remember the Hindenburg
The water produced by a fuel cell is dropped on the roadway.
Of course most BEVs get power from both renewable and fossil fueled electricity.
And I agree I am not entirely comfortable being that close to 5,000 to 10,000 psi tank of hydrogen.- GM seems pretty focused on getting their Ultium battery out there. This might be the first of more to come co-operative projects with other companies to speed up entry in the EV market, and specifically light truck market. Ford to some degree is doing the same thing with Rivian.
The only light truck manufacture not showing any interest in EV’s is Ram. I’m not sure what their strategy is here and can’t find anything on google indicating they even have a comprehensive program. Are they just planning to slowly give up market share and maybe just concentrate on a different market? The market of anything with a tail pipe is going to get smaller quicker as we approach 2030 as new laws and regulations kick in. - notevenExplorer III

Fuel cell vehicles are electric, They convert hydrogen directly into electricity, the only byproduct is water..
Correct - I should have said “not a battery electric ...”

And just a coincidence that the stock of both companies, Nikola especially, took a big jump? And a company that doesn't even have a real product? Nikola I mean.
The announcement was not marketing hype. The announcement was a business transaction (strategic partnership) announcing that one business was buying service/product from another. Investors see this as positive, and react with purchasing stock.
Last week, GM and Honda announced they have signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding following extensive preliminary discussions toward establishing a North American automotive alliance.
Today, GM announced that the Ultium battery – the power source behind GM’s future EV portfolio - will feature an almost completely wireless battery management system, or wBMS.
I think I see a GMC Hummer soon!
Not marketing hype, riiiiiiiight. Wink wink, nudge nudge.
You know what they say
Suckers born every minute,
I feel sorry for all investing money in NKLA bc they will lose it all.
Trevor Milton is a scammer extraordinare his vid of pretending to break ground on a factory in Az proves it as its still empty field now
Btw he also sold milions of Nikola stocks bought a private jet and built biggest house on huge acreage.
Why not invest that into EV factory!?
GM will never make any fool cell trucks,
its just isnt financialy feasible, profitable practical, they will just keep on postponing and make up all kinds of promises while pushing gasoline and diesels.
