The 5L Cummins motor was under evaluation at Ram a short while ago...back when Fred Diaz was CEO of Ram division.
When Nissan wooed Diaz over to handle their truck business, he evidently took the Cummins V8 with him, as the program was killed to make way for the VM Motori engine (VM Motori is a joint venture between Fiat and GM).
There are so many unknowns with the Nissan/Cummins (Nummins?) at this point...we'll see what the final product is in 2015.
