Most of the Japanese have entered into the US Pickup market in a fairly half hearted way as these models are not part of their core global business.
Nissan had two options :Lose face and withdraw or make a bigger splash. They went for the later.
Toyota is now "last man standing" its Tundra line is the smallest of the US Fullzize Pickups in sales and the Tacoma is a rehashed and watered down version of the old Hilux Surf. Presently it is more concerned about overtaking Ford in the US market for overall sales.
