SOME COMMENTS FROM OUTSIDE NA ON ASPECTS OF THE CUMMINS/FIAT TIE UP YOU WOULD NOT BE AWARE OF
(1) FIAT's cars /Chrysler/Dodge are rarely mentioned. It is Jeep and the trucking divsion IVECO. In fact FIAT's Industrial arm is mentioned a lot.
(2) The 5.9 Cummins and the IVECO Tector 5.9 Diesel are basically the same engine. At one stage IVECO was building 5.9 blocks for Cummins.
(3) Machionne has been merging the US based CNH with IVECO. Chrysler will stay with Fiat. Overall HQ for both sides of the Company is in Italy . Operational HQ for Chysler is in the US.
(4) VM Motori was 50% owned by FIAT, Now I think totally owned by them.
