uhm? VM Motori has been building their engines for a lot longer then yer "ECO BUST", in fact, VM Motori has been supplying Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, GM, Rover and FORD for years. Take yer "blinders" off, not everything revolves around North America car/truck users.
Modern Diesels are everywhere outside North America and have rapidly replaced "petrol" engines in work related duties. They are like the US, intially more expensive but overall less expensive and much more effective at hauling heavy loads.
No otber manufacturer on the planet and that includes North American based ones are building clones of Ecoboosts to do what a diesels can do a lot better.
To me this is a rather bizarre arguement. I wonder if we will see a "Carburettor versus Elecrtronic Fuel Injection " arguement as well?
Ford OUTSIDE North America uses Diesels for all of its other Commercial vehicles. Even the Global Ranger from memory is all diesel except for a 2.5 petrol litre base engine. The Mazda BT-50 twin has no Petrol options. Ford offered a 2 Litre Ecoboost for the Ford Falcon, but sales were extremely lukewarm.
