Nissan Titan?

Just so you know, 5.6 Titans have the worst gas mileage of any the 1/2 ton v-8s.

In general, Titan included, save for the early rear axle issues, I’ve seen Nissan quality to be pretty darn good.
A good indicator is look at FSBO adds on Craigslist for a particular model.
Look at a hundred or more and keep track of miles vs “new engine, new trans”
Sellers will typically “talk up” an older vehicle with recent major repairs because it cost them a lot of $ and it is viewed as a selling point. What is does is give you a baseline for average miles before huge repairs.

On the older gen, if you can find a Pro4X or a truck with the optional "big tow" package, you will get the more favorable for towing, 3.36 rear gear. The other trucks will have a tall 2.93 gear.

The only real reliability issues were the very early trucks had some failures of the ring and pinion in the rear diffs. This was traced to a bad batch of gears produced by Dana ( the axle supplier ). Those were warranted, so the chance of one that has bad gears in it, this late in the game is almost nil. Those were in the year 2002-2003 as I recall.

The clear coat on the paint can fail on the older trucks if left out in the sun and not waxed. But my '06 Frontier paint looks as new. Garage kept when not driven and waxed regularly.

That gen of Titan should be dirt cheap to buy. A real bargain, as they were very heavily discounted when new.

Thanks for the input. I'm not worried at all about the towing capacity but more the reliability. Looking at a 2011 with the gas V8.

The newest generation Titan has either the 5.6 gas V8, which is a updated version of the old 5.6 V8, or it has a 5.0 V8 Cummins diesel.

EDIT: also the newest version of the gas Titan has a seven speed trans vs the old one with it's five speed. I've driven both. The new one is definitely strong running, at least empty. I've not towed with it.

The old Titan would be perfectly fine for that TT. Those only came with the powerful V8. Not sure what the new ones come with.

You'll be fine. Like the previous I towed my trailer with a Frontier but was always a couple hundred lbs over RAWR. Traded Frontier for Titan and lots of capacity left over. The Titan V8 has decent power and I just love the size. Towing MPG in the Titan is the same as the Frontier also. I have the Big Tow package and the towing mirrors are nice.

Towed the HTT in my sig with a Frontier and a Titan. No worries even if you don't have the Big Tow package! The Frontier pulled it fine and got about the same MPGs towing as the Titan. Titan gets worse solo! I like the bigger truck but at times miss the nimble, efficient Frontier....
