no electric in bathroom - GFCI?

A couple of weeks ago, I accidently hooked up the battery with the polarity reversed. Fixed that and replaced a fuse, and everything works except the light, fan and receptacle in the bath. Someone suggested a GFCI plug was popped, but I've searched high and low to no avail. All my fuses are fine. Any suggestions? Thanks
  • Please let us know if the other 120Volt outlets are working in the rig. If not, when you reversed the cables, you most likely blew the inverter fuse. It's actually in the circuit to protect the electronics if you reverse polarity like you did. My inverter fuse is very hard to find. You need to pull the inverter out of the cabinet in order to access it.
  • Hi,

Start with a volt meter. Check to see if there is voltage at the light socket.

Then check each and every fuse one at a time for continuity. They can look good but be failed all the same.
  • You didn't say, but I have to assume that you reset the GFCI outlet...correct?

Are you sure nothing else is not working?? Have you gone around and checked all other electrical items?

As newman mentioned...two different electrical sources. The fan and light will be on two different 12vdc fuses and the outlet on a 120 vac circuit breaker.

If you have an inverter, check on the side of it for push button type of circuit breakers...it's very common for one of these to trip and I bet you have other outlets that are non-op as well.

As for the light, I suspect the bulb is out. The fan can be a fuse that you're overlooking. Anything other than these possibilities will require someone with rv electrical knowledge to track the problem down.

    Good luck

    Ron
  • Two diff sysyems 12volt on the light and fan outlet 110 the only thing that might be in common is the ground.so i would see if you left a ground wire off the batt
