No Slide Out Travel Trailer

Here is one near me, it is bigger than what you mentioned (and could probably tow with your vehicle now). it has been advertized for a while, so seller would probably take less. You could probably get the seller to deliver to your location so you could begin using it sooner. I know it is a long ways from Dalton, but other than length, I think it would work for your needs. I have a Jayflight and have been very pleased with quality. They are green certified (so less likely to cause allergy issues).

You could take bunks on street side out and use area for recliners, rockers or whatever you want. Since their is an outside kitchen, you could tap those water lines to put washer/dryer in bunk room.

Strongly recommend that you have 30 or 50 amp service put in at your MIL's. If you have a correctly sized service plug, you will not need generator. Your TT will run on A/C's on it's electric service plug. You only need a generator is you are staying somewhere without enough electric service.

We have gone on two extended trips (as in one year) around the USA in a non-slide 22ft travel trailer, but sure do like our newer slide trailer below. The storage will need to be in boxes stored in the tow vehicle as storage is very limited inside anything less than 30 ft, and even then it is limited.
We looked for four years to find a floor plan that worked for us in the Jayco below. Good Luck.

I have thought of a Toy Hauler and they are on the list to look on. This is one of the reasons I'm sending my husband to the RV show so he can poke through all the RV's he wants to his hearts content with the list we came up with and come home with a short list of the ones he likes. Right now Coachman Trailers are a favorite for me along with Ever Green. That is open to changing however once he goes. The other benefit to a toy hauler is it would provide a good place for Charley to play!

I think all the things on your wish list are likely doable....except for the washer and dryer. Since we got into the RV lifestyle in '06, the only units I can recall seeing a w & d in are the larger motor homes. Certainly not to say you could not retrofit, but first you have to get the things through the door. Plumbing work. Then in the 24 - 28' size, something is going to have to go to make room for them. I would not put appliances with their weight toward the rear of the trailer. Don't know if you have thought of this, but what about a toy hauler? You wouldn't have the issue of cramming the w & d through a door, although they would be toward the rear, you could mod the area to suit your crocheting needs or whatever else you might need. Our 26' has swivel rockers rather than recliners and I'd bet they were set into the unit before the walls were up. My dear cousin and hubby checked into removing their sofa and putting in recliners and the only ones they found that could have the back removed from the seat and were small enough to get through the door were LazyBoys and were very, very $$$$. Something else to check into. Still think most of this is possible, but you're going to have to be very creative. Best of luck

Is there off the street parking at your mom-inlaws home? If so, once you have picked out the RV of your dreams, I'd plan on installing a power pedestal to give you lots of power.

The trend appears to be towards 50 amp shore power connections. Power management can be quite an annoyance if the shower power breaker is inside the home and it is 2 a.m.

About 75% of the time we will be parked by my mother in law's home to be close to be able to help her but not living in the house due to my allergies. We will need air conditioning so a generator is a must. I'm not sure if boondocking will be happening but my husband has thought of doing solar over time.

At least some RV parks frown on visitors or even charge them a fee. Offering classes may not be possible. Be sure to ask before renting a spot.

Washer and driers for RV's tend to be quite small in capacity. They really can only be used if there is a shore water connection and it would be best if there were a sewer connection, too. They occupy a lot of space and believe me storage is almost always an issue in an RV.

I'd rather have a nearly full size shower and a separate commode.

It is important to have enough head room.

Televisions are inexpensive and with the advent of lcd and led technology can be wall mounted. Most floor plans won't lend themselves well to a single unit that can be swiveled from the living room to the bedroom. Besides, having two means that if you both have different shows you wish to watch--it can be done at the same time.

More and more fridges are 2 way (Propane/120 volt) rather than 3 way. Most don't work well on the 12 volt setting.

Do you plan on boondocking without any 120 volt shore power? Then consider a small inverter for the TV and charging laptop, etc.

Do homes need air condition in the summer time where you plan to set up camp? If so, then a generator would be good to have.

A folding sliding door between the bedroom and the rest of the RV is a good thing to have. Sometimes it is good to have some private alone time. The door can also cut heating costs in the winter. DAMHIK
