I recall telling the guys at work when we learned this, that we would probably see a V8 Ecoboost in the Superduty within a few years. Was wrong but I still think it will happen.
Thinking the way Ford plans out, since the 6.7 diesel was also new at that time, they were probably being ready in case new Powerstroke didn't go over well. It mostly did except for a few guys.. :W

Once the new P/S was obviously a hit, they would not want to lose sales to a lower profit gas engine.. (Which would have happened and still would today I suppose)
There are many out there who just don't want a diesel and once they offer this V8 Eco I bet they would have to add shift at the Kentucky plant..
This could happen when they intro the aluminum Superduty??:@
