OK over in the auto show thread a link was post talking about the Tundra and the 5.0 CTD. I was told the 5.0 CTD was not going in the Tundra by a Toyota rep at the show. Here is the LINK
If you read it you will find this! "Sources say Ford is working on a light duty diesel as well, planning for a 2018 arrival. With new pressure from its competitors, it will be interesting to see if Ford can join the crowd in time."
A V8 Ecoboost in a HD truck just does not make any sense. The V6 does not make very good fuel mileage UNLESS you tape an egg to the top of the go pedal and a block of wood under it to limit its travel! On boost it is a pig, off boost it's OK but noting to right home about!
So do any of you think Ford is going to build a V8 EB and trash their CAFE ratings? They have the highest CAFE ratings of all the Auto Makers don't they (or so they say)? The game changer is their 10 speed trans, with it they may be able to keep a V8 EB some what economical. But what is that going to do to the cost of their trucks. The Ram Ecodiesel costs the same as a F-150 EB but the Ram comes with the ZF 8HP70 the Ford runs a 6 speed. Add the cost of the 10 speed in to it and the Ford is going to be very pricy I think.
Don
I built a F-150 with the same options or as close as I could, Ford does not have a diesel 150 so I built a 3.5 sorry about that EB an 2.7 EB is minus $1,200 to the cost and what a cost!

So much for the couple guys saying the Ecodiesel costs to much! Wait until the new trans comes online and see what it does to the price of a F-150! Note, my Ram listed out at $53,308 that's $2,702 more for a gas V6 Ford!
