V10 you have a very valid point, if they replace the V10 with a V8 5.0 EB that should not affect Fords CAFE ratings. As far as HD trucks go, as of now they are not included but 2020?? In 2016 the manufacturers will have to hit combined EPA of 34.1 MPG for cars, suvs and LD trucks.
The reason fuel mileage is in question is show below. No you are right, not everyone wants a diesel. But bottom line they are coming no matter what some people think. Diesels make better fuel mileage no matter the cost of the fuel. Bottom line the Gov does not care what a fuel costs, they care how much fuel a particular vehicle uses, period.
