All good points Don and food for thought.
It is all about 'gaming' the CAFE numbers ,which engine is easier to manipulate?
Twin turbo small displacement or a na V10 given the same power? On paper Ecoboost engines make regulators look good (see see we are doing our job!) and deliver what the customer wants,big fleets are not concerned with MPG so much as cost per mile. So win win.
They all play the same game -play within the testers 'box' no wonder some do not get promised mileage .
The manufacturers may care but only to a point , they must work in the box.
Is Ford winning the 'game'?
