North out of Lewiston, Idaho...

Well, we are 1300 miles into our camping trip and on the way back home. We started out in Baker, MT. Drove across Montana to Coeur dalane (sp), ID. Lots of side trips off the interstate. Stopped at Dave Smith Motors in Kellog, ID just to say I had been there. LOL. Anyhow, that pull coming back out of Lewiston, ID Northbound seemed pretty steep and llloooonnnnnggggg. TT is weighing about 10,800 and another 2,000 pounds of atvs in the back of the truck. The Ferd pulled it fine, but darn that's a heck of a hill.:o

Back in the sixties, that hill was called the Spiral Highway. It was ten miles of curve after curve. Now there is just that one sharp 50 mph corner. One canyon during the construction of the new highway you drove took two years to fill. It's a piece of cake now.

I stopped at the overlook top of the hill. One could still see parts of the old road winding down the hill. Wow, it is a long ways down, spectacular view of Lewiston from up there.
  • We came up the grade over Memorial weekend. It really does test the RV setup. Our RV handled it fine, but probably didn't top 45 at any one point during the climb. When you get to the top the view is worth it.
  • Oh, no! Not Dave Smith Chevrolet???!!! :S I have to mute those commercials instantly! :B

  • It is a good one. I came in last fall off from US 12 east and gosh, the way the roads are layed out couldn't even get a run at it before I was leaning back heading uphill.

A good test for any vehicle pulling a load.
