Well there is a big difference there.
But the answer is still the same: NOTHING on a routine basis.
Stabilizer when stored for more than a month.
And a good shot of injector/carb cleaner at least once a year.
Berrymans B12 Chemtool for carbs; Techron for injectors. - Sam_SpadeExplorer

What is best oil additive to add to 7.3 with 171000 miles?
NOTHING.
If it is burning/using a little bit of oil, try a "high mileage" type of a name brand oil.
If it is using a LOT of oil, find out why. Additives won't fix that.
P.S. And definitely DO NOT put anything that is a solvent into your oil.....like SeaFoam. It is not really good for any engine and on an old one like that it can turn a minor annoyance into a major failure. - ChrisatthebeachExplorerI do not put anything in the fuel or the oil.
235000 miles and running fine. No oil consumption. Still has the same power as new.
I use Shell Rotella and change at 7500 miles or once per year, whichever comes first. - path1ExplorerI just use the generic brand. Called "snake oil".
- patperry2766Explorer III use Sea Foam in my gas engines and have been happy so far. Per their website, it is also suitable for diesel engines
- Dave_H_MExplorer IIWhy do you need to add anything. My 7.3 did fine for 13 years and was doing well when it went down the road on its way to a new home.
Shell Rotella dino every 5K miles. - lawnspecialtiesExplorerI use Motorcraft PM-22 in my 6.7. PM-23 in the wintertime. Its actually recommended but we're comparing two different engines.

I use power service. It makes the injectors a little more quite and brings up the cetane rating. Neither are necessary.
