- CampingN_C_ExplorerI vote REPO
- HalmfamilyExplorerIf its like my Sandpiper and probably is he had a hydraulic failure on his slides. Both slides on that side operate on hydraulics. Main slide opens first then rear slide opens. There is a manual way to close the slides, crank is in the front storage. I did have a valve failure and my main slide opened six inches before I noticed it, had to keep retracting slide with the remote control to keep it closed. We will truly never know the whole story.
- Heavy_Metal_DocExplorerI know someone very close to me who had the control panel of thier 5er located just the right way that something shifted up against teh switch and extended the slide out while they where moving. But that was only one slide.
The quality of the OP's picture is very believable to me - my junky old flip-phone cell with an early camera (low quality pics by todays standards) take just about as good of pictures even when moving at highway speed.
My guess would be, since 2 slides are out, that this is either a repo / theft or else they fried something electrical, lost power, and don't know how to manually retract the slides. - myredracerExplorer IIMaybe somebody set this up just so forum folk would all speculate what was going on and see what theories come up. Sort of reminds of pranks in engineering school way back when but nowadays there is the internet to spread stuff.
A couple of years ago somebody on another forum asked if it was safe to travel with his slides out. After several pages of "are you kidding, that's so dangerous" somebody noticed that it was posted in the humor sub-forum.... That was a good one! :B - gboppExplorerOr, it could be something as simple as: You Can't Fix Stupid. :?
- mowinExplorerIts definitely not parked. Pic would be blured as already mentioned.
My vote... slides not working, and owner had no clue what to do. - JJBIRISHExplorerI think it’s a dealer moving it to another site or the service area to be worked on… chances are it not moving fast or far…
- loulou57ExplorerI think he is just pulled over to the side of the road... Lunch time, soap opera on and maybe the driver just needs a nap!
- BurbManExplorer IIGuys if the vehicle from which the picture was taken is going the same speed at the object being photographed, there is no relative motion between the camera and the object. If the photo was being taken from the side of the road, there would be some blurring.
Look at this one I took at 70 mph, there is no blurring because the trailer was moving the same speed
The tires on the trailer don't look like they are moving, maybe it's this 13MP camera on the Samsung S4. - Old-BiscuitExplorer IIII would suspect that slideout on curbside is also extended.
Not uncommon for all slides to operate in series....one goes out, then the next then the last. Reverse for retracting.
SO if controller failed....none would operate.
None operating.....owner didn't have a clue how to 'manually' close
"Honey...we got a problem. Slides don't work"
"Sweety...don't fret I'll just have to drive it home with them open. It'll be OK. What choice do we have?"
