The same thing happened to me with a Ford Expedition. I blocked traffic with the trailer half in the road.I don't know why I thought to try it, but I put it in 4 wheel low and reverse worked and I was able to back it in.

You didn't lose reverse if it went in reverse.

Early 4L80Es had an issue with reverse and pressure build up causing it to blow out some of the seals. TransGo put out a kit to fix the problem and of course Chevy re-designed the valve body on newer 4L80Es to eliminate the pressure build-up. If the trans shop you take it to wants to re-use the old valve body, have them put in the TransGo kit.

Although I didn't have the tranny go out. I ended up in that position with a flat tire on the tow vehicle. Couldn't get the camper out of the road. Then because the spare is under the vehicle I had to unhook to be able to lower the spare. Swapped the tire rehooked to the rv and then backed into the site. I lot of folks weren't happy because I was blocking the road but I didn't have a lot of choices.:R

We have also used GS towing for our cars. Went to Lowes came out and wouldn't start. Call GS and they were there in less then an hour.

My trailer is that long and my half ton Sierra with the 5.3 Liter pulls it without a problem. I'm not over on the maximum towing capacity, maximum payload, or maximum combined vehicle weight.

I've had it for 10 years and used it once, year before last. It worked just as advertised. My trailer was towed to a nearby RV park and my truck was towed to the nearest Ford dealer, about 25 miles away. Good service and I'll keep it as long as I have an RV.

I've seen my 2011 F-150 get up to 211 deg a few times. I slowed down and it dropped down to 203 or so.

What's the breaking point?

If you start seeing over 220 I would pull over and let it cool down. Over 250 it will start roasting. This chart shows approx life of trans. NOTE, this is AVERAGE temps. If you see a max of 225 a few times and change the fluid when you get home, it wont be a big deal.
If you see 275+ ever, you have probably done some damage.
