Crew cab and 4WD will eat into that published payload capacity. The Mfg.'s usually list the most base model, 2WD, manual tranny (if available), and any suspension upgrades so the published payload capacity is as high as can be advertized. Your 1300 lb. of payload is typical for most 1/2 ton 4WD, crewcab trucks. My F-250 isn't a whole lot more.
That's what is frustrating... when I looked up the most basic model, it showed a lower payload... I looked it up the specific one we bought.
Are you looking on the Toyota website or somewhere else?
It really matters not, I guess, because you have the truck and it has the weight placard and you've had it weighed. I would imagine it is frustrating because you were led to believe by published amounts that the payload would be greater. Unfortunately, we live in a world of fine print and asterisks.
It's a Nissan so a Toyota website wouldn't do me much good. ;) But no - I was looking at places like Edmunds where you can put in the exact truck you have (SE, 4wd, SWB, etc) and it will give you a number.
Sorry about the reference to Toyota, for some reason I thought you had a Tundra. I know that Edmunds and KBB often list the maximum capacities and asterix with something like "depends on trim and model" or "when properly equipped".
