Yes, I did read page one and the link to ib516's post, thanks. ib516 based his observations on his Ram 2500 Hemi 6.4 gasser. The Ram 2500 gasser has approx. 800 lbs. more payload than the Ram 2500 6.7 Cummins. IMO, that's a bit too much difference to extrapolate in terms of the Ram 2500 DIESEL.
I was very impressed with the thoroughness of ib516's post though---excellent information!
The gaser 6.4L in that test and my diesel 2500 are identical besides the engine. How much of that engine weight are you thinking would effect the rear suspension measurement in that test?
However, if you are on the fence between the two then I would say just get the 3500. I got the 2500 knowing that it the truck is more capable than what the numbers say and I know what the limiting factor in those numbers were. This came from research and experience from working for engine and truck manufacturers. I will say that if I needed more than 3,000 lbs of payload to tow what i do then I would have went with he 3500. This may not be the same in your case so if you are over that then I would say get the 3500 and if you your are towing anything that needs more than 3,800 lbs payload then I would go for the DRW.
