Picked up a different truck this week.

Found what I have always thought would be the ideal Rv hauler. 2005 Chevy Kodiak c5500

But its not stock, still has the Allison Trans. But the duramax fell out somewhere and a Cummins jumped into the truck.

Gets better MPG then the duramax, and man does it pull. Has a 5.9 24 valve diesel pusher motor in it. With a 75 HP tuner helping it out. Rides better then my 2500HD and cuts shorter then it does. Plus has air ride seats. 150 gallon fuel on board so can pick where I fuel up and get the best price. Rather than buy when I have to and pay way more per gallon.
Truck has a in movement sat dish on the top of the cab, Flip down Tv inside. Back seat makes into a bed and is heated. These leather seats are built where they wrap around your sides and man they sit great. It has a B&W hitch on it now. But will be mounting my Trail saver air ride hitch this weekend.

  • Wow! It's a beautiful thing! With a Cummins to boot! Here's wishing you many miles of happy towing with it. :B
  • That's awesome! I'd love to see a few pics if the inside as well. Thanks for sharing.
  • Why is it that the large Fords and Chevys use the Cummins engine rather than one from their own stable? Oh, I remember, the Cummins in a medium duty diesel engine, not a light duty.

What did they install for a lift pump. That is the weak link OEM of the 24V 5.9.

In your second photo they have a hose coming off the breather on the time cover below the AC pump, that heads up to the drivers side to a silver pipe. What is at the end of that, another place to add oil?

What did you have to give for it?

  • I always said, "Bigger is better when it comes to towing. You can never have too much truck!" Looks real nice. Congrats!
  • Nice. You better watch those stacks, you will have a black cap on your fiver for sure. I like the paint on that towing body.
