I had a 8.5 foot long 7ft wide Loredo Northstar. Then I went to a Northstar 8ft pop-up with no bath etc. and a porta-potti for a trip to Alaska. Worked well but wanted a wet bath so bot a 850sc when we returned home. As far the advantages in the pop up I noticed less cross wind effect when driving and a very slight increase in mileage, I was disappointed at the time the increase in mileage was not larger. Longer set-up time, noisier inside vs. the hard sided and less storage in the Northstar. The Outfitter we owned had more storage.
A narrower 7ft rather than 7.5 ft wide camper makes backing your boat in a little easier although never had a problem with either, guess I have good "back-up genes", some don't.
I think we are just at the stag in life (old) that we prefer the easier set-up of the hardside TC. As far as off road access I assume the new NL will not be as nimble due to its extra height, width and weight.
