PNW Meet n Greet - Looking for interest?

So, I'm calling out the ones I can think of off the top of my head,
~DJ~, Buzzcut, JimH, Area13, Vinsil, deltabravo, Bedlam. (Sorry if I don't have your name on the list, I have a limited memory...)

I'm thinking of a meet n greet with toys at POSSIBLY Beverly ORV just off I-90 @ the Columbia River. It's a small-area sand toy destination. nothing like Winchester or Coos, but it's what we got.

* Dry camping only
* No campsites - park where you want to camp, we can easily set up a group area.
* Needs a WA DNR pass, that's it, no camping fees.

This is only a thought - no date, open discussion, but if it gets too much past May it starts getting warm there.

But any other place is fine too, it's just one I thought of that's easy to not have to worry about reservations or number of sites to get.

  • If you guys come up with a date I will see. We are kinda booked now through Summer though, but who knows. We do a lot of boating starting in May with Halibut,Shrimp and such, couple of camping trips set in place in between already.

We are interested. 300 acres isn't huge, does it get boring after a few hours?

6 hour drive for me, will have to discuss with my wife as it would need to be a four day trip (anything over a 3 hour drive, I'm going to make it worth my time!

Is there any dispersed camping around Mill City where you took those photos?

Sort of. The good is that lots of fireroads and the one "Jeep" trail to the lookout.

The bad...its fireroads. A better spot is Hoo Doo ski area. Hundreds of miles of trails, lookouts like the Mill City one I posted...and free dry camping. Downside..it is DUSTY due to Volcanic sand. Very fine...to the point we use Wolf snounts and just accept...everything you own will be caked in dust and you might bring a new airfilter.

    But we still love it.

  • I'd be up for a trip.
I found out yesterday my new job has crappy vacation time allotment the first year, so any trips I do will be with WA State, long weekends or similar.

I'm open to meeting up pretty much anywhere in the state.
  • I've been reluctant to get a Discover Pass since it funds mostly places I do not visit, but I might swallow my pride if you guys can get organized.

North of the Cascade Locks on the Columbia River is supposed to be good place for trails and dispersed camping. Anyone know this area?
