ProPride WD Jack Questions

New Pro Pride owner with a few questions.

I plan to weigh, adjust, and reweigh my rig to get the correct WD jack height (hopefully full original weight on front axle). Once that's done, what's the best way to make setting the WD jacks back to the same spot a quick and easy process? I don't like the idea of having to get a tape measure out every time I hookup. I was considering a piece of white tape on the inner rod of the jack. This way I can just use my cordless drill to run the outer part of the jack up until the white tape shows. Any other ideas?

As for the Spring Bar Links, is there any special logic to what hole I should use? I think this comes down to using the hole that allows me to reach my desired weight transfer AND gets the WD bars parallel to the ground. Am I on the right track here?
  • I just use the tape method. Pull the tape out and lock in place and parallel to post with one hand and drill with other hand easy as pie. Doesn't take that much amount of time nor energy.
  • I've seen tape. Also saw where someone put a simple worm clamp around the lower rod. When worm clamp is flush with top rod it's all good.
  • I use the hand crank that came with by stabilizer jacks and count turns on the ProPride jacks. 35 turns works for my setup.

As for the link bars, I use the hole that allows for the hitch to be level, (parallel to the ground) when all tension is released. This allows for easy unhitching. I didn't think that the bars need to be parallel to the ground.
  • Another suggestion that I saw on a YouTube video also involves tape. Put a piece of tape at the desired height on the breaker bar that came with the hitch. Since you will have it out anyway in order to snap on the over center latches, it is convenient. And you don't have to worry about the outer jack cover possibly peeling off the tape.

As for the hole, that is my guess as well. Because of how my propane tanks are setup on my trailer, I was not able to use the supplied jacks. So I'm using an alternative method to jack up the bars.
