Purchase New 2011 Palomino Maverick - Caveats?

I got a line on a new 2011 Model 8801 for about $14k out the door. It's been sitting at the dealers for, I assume, 3 years in full sun/rain/snow. Is there anything I should look for or be cautious about? My concern is the roof and all the caulk/sealant for the components that poke through. The dealer said I'd get the usual one year warranty. Are there other concerns about sitting so long without use, like a water pump seal or something like that? Is the roof-top A/C unit going to be OK without having the compressor cycle for so long? It's not our dream camper, but it fits our F250 and the price is hard to ignore. This will be our first camper purchase. We've been tent camping for years and we're buying a camper, it's just a matter of which one. Should we decide to buy a 2014, I'm also curious about any info regarding taking delivery of an RV at the factory to save some dough.
  • Cracked floor pan doesn't sound too good.
I'll have to check on the availablity of an extended warranty. The roof scares me more than the floor pan, but that's great input.
    Thanks.
  • Mine has been in use for three years Ann the seals are holding. Plug in at the dealer and try everything. palomino let me buy another year off full warranty for $150.00 ...so two year total...came in handy for a cracked bathroom pan.

That Palomino may not fit on your bike LOL!

It'll be OK. I'll put air bags on it.
It sounds like I should shoot for closer to 10 grand. That might take some negotiation skills. I think if it were going to be re-sealed, I'd want to do it myself. It's been there for a while, so I think I've got time to do a little more research. It's the first and only TC we've looked at, so I owe it to myself to look some more.
Any other comments are welcome, especially tips on air baggin' a Softail. :)

NADA puts the list price as $15,000.

RV's have a huge markup, and can be purchased for much less if you work at it a little. A used 8801 (which is what this one will be the day you buy it) is valued at $9820 low retail....... which is usually what they are actually worth. I think the price is high.

    I couldn't agree more!

  • I would have as condition of the sale that the dealer reseal all areas on the exterior. The downside of this is that they may do a cheese job to get it out the door. Regardless, whether they do it or you do the job- do the reseal.
