Queen mattress in a Host Mammoth?

I tried a search and didn't' come up with anything. Has anyone succeeded in getting a traditional coil spring mattress in their Host Mammoth? I managed to get one in our old Lance and my DW wants me to try and get one in the Host. I've done the math and I don't think it is possible. We're getting a new bed for the house and she wants the old mattress and I want it hauled off. Thanks in advance.
  • We had a new queen pillow top in our AF when we bought it (11" thick). We like a full size so wanted to remove it.

I tried with the wifes help but it was just too awkward, too big, and way too heavy to manuver in the TC.

We enlisted our neighbors son, who helped me get a ratchet strap under it and then fold it with the strap around it to keep it there. With the ratchet strap it became circular but we could push the sides in and get it down the isle. We got it out.

It didn't seem to damage it. Still in use on a bed in our spare bedroom.

I ordered a queen sized memory foam mattress for our camper to replace the stock crappy mattress. Now we prefer sleeping in the camper to sleeping in our own bed.

I'm sold on the memory foam mattresses now. In fact, I'm looking at the purple mattress for our bedroom.

If you got a foam mattress, you could make it fit if it's a little off.
  • You may trouble getting a mattress in that cannot be folded over. Some people use ratchet straps on the mattress until it is in the cabover.
  • I used the company that advertised. we will deliver and install your new mattress and haul away your old one. I let their young strong guys figure it out and muscle it into my lance.....
  • We just put a 4 inch memory foam topper on our factory mattress. The biggest I can get in my mammoth is 63 wide and 78 long. We didn't think the factory one was that bad. With the topper it is as good as home.
