The only thing is he does need a code reader to find out what went wrong. Auto zone or Oriellies etc offer free tools, so they should have a reader to offer. If a rod is gone more than likely would not have started and run for '500 ft' since it would lodge itself more than likely and stop the crank. Anyhow get the code reader then fo to FTE.com and look up the expedition section and go from there. Ny sone has an 04 F150 and except for a bad coil plug or 2 has been maintenance free for 160000 miles or so. Yes the plugs are a PIA to change, but after 1st go round and buying the plug tool follow the directions on how to do it and its not that bad. Biggest problem he has had recently are the thieves who keep breaking into the truck. Insurance co told him his truck is too nice thus it is a target! An ex for a school kid/college kid is a bit much but its his and now its needing some TLC it seems.
