If it lost a plug, it would still easily run on 7 (or even less for that matter).
Does it have any oil in it? It could have seized, and broke free when it cooled. It started back up later after it had cooled, but rattled from the lack of oil pressure. It stalled again in only a few hundred feet as the rings dug into the cylinder walls.
If that is the case, the engine is garbage. At a minimum, the engine will need to be bored, and new pistons and rings. The crank bearings may have survived, but the valvetrain will be trashed so you can expect cams and rocker arms to be scored.
For oil starvation, it may be cheaper to find a replacement engine from a wrecked vehicle.
