Where was the testing done and what is the elevation there?
I'm not surprised the 0-60 times were close. Cummins are pretty slow revving motors and never know for their acceleration (that's not what they're built for). A gasser with the extra ~3000RPM on the top end and right gearing can get a load moving. Holding the load under varying conditions is where the differences in torque curves become noticeable.
I bet unloaded the Hemi would easily outrun the Cummins in a 0-60
