If you look at the 68RFE ratios, it is quite easy to see what they have done. As I said in the previous post, 1st is much lower to get all that weight moving. Once you shift into 2nd, you won't use 1st again until you come to a stop. If you look at 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th, the ratio changes are evenly spaced and so are the changes from 4th to 5th and 5th to 6th. These ratios are set up for towing, not drag racing from a standing start.
