I hate side steps too. I did not have steps on it when I bought it in October 2014 and my wife started to complain a month later about getting in the truck. She asked me if I was ever going to put steps on and my exact words were "No, it keeps the short and fat girls out of my truck". I guess she did not like my answer because a month later I got these steps for Christmas. I am not sure why because she is 5'7", which is tall for a woman, and probably doesn't weigh more than a buck thirty.
However, that third step for the bed has come in handy more times than I can count.
