The Chrysler Reps at May Madness said they can deny you warranty if you go beyond 6 mo if you have a oil related claim. They also said if you have a oil analysis stating oil is good beyond the 6 mo they will accept running the full 15K even if it tales longer than 6mo to get to 15K.
I changed mine at 4K and again at 15K just a few days ago. It was well over 6 mo. I did take a sample to see how the oil looks with 11K on it.

The 6 month interval is most likely due to the oil's TBN rating that deteriates over time with soot and diesel in the sump, which the oil has to be able to neutralize any acid formation. Buy one of the end-cap filter wrenches that fits on a socket wrench and the filter is easy to loosen, and then as it gets close to coming off put a ziploc bag around it so it can drop in when it comes off. Then seal up the bag and pull it through the hole. It shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes to remove the old filter and install the new one.
