Time for a change and have used OEM filters in the past. I know that Fleetguard makes Mopar, but has anyone ever tried a non-OEM brand. I'm not talking a cheap Amazon knockoff, but something like Baldwin or Wix?There is a backorder on Fleetguard and alot of places say there is a backorder on Mopar, which makes sense as well. The Mopar has 3 micron filteration rating, while the Baldwin advertises <4 filteration. Truck is still under warranty. Should I just stick to OEM and wait till they get them is stock?I'm about 2K miles over my change interval

Wix has a nominal micron rating of 2. Nominal, absolute, schmabsolute, whatever. They’re good filters.

I remember when I had my 05 6.0PSD and the Wix fuel filters didn't have the aqua block material on the primary filter and would allow water to pass right through the filter. After learning that, I only purchase OEM fuel filters and never had a fuel system problem with a combined 420k miles on my current and previous truck.

Yes, I have tried Wix for air filters, Napa Gold and another I don't remember for others. They all pale in comparison. The air filters will pull down my filter minder a little even when new - showing that they simply don't flow as well. The fuel filters don't have nearly as many pleats (Napa Gold was worst) so wont last as long and the FG's oil filters use their straopore tech (read about it) and are priced competitively so no reason to use others. I have also seen the oil filters cut open for comparison and the FG always have more pleats, better bypass hardware and are generally heavier built and better quality. I would like to save a buck but found it just isn't worth it. What ever you do, don't use a Fram oil filter. They are known to kill these engines and Ram even has a TSB to identify the damage they cause.

Yeah, got a Fleetguard under bed filter, but I ordered the wrong Mopar engine filter without the Nanonet by accident. Had to return that one. Prices have gone up considerably over the year on filters...and diesel...and everything else

This is where gassers exploit maintenance cost! Dealers really gouge simple maintenance cost on diesels!
I do all my normal maintenance oil and filter change, fuel filter changes, Aisin fluid drain and fills, and filter change, and the crankcase vent filter.

If you can't find them online, you may be able to find them at a Cummins dealer. I've bought from them in the past. About the same prices. After talking with Cummins12V98, I will only use the 3 he suggested. I change mine every 10k, even though it says I can go longer. Same with the oil. You're right, the prices have gone crazy!

Local Cummins/Fleetguard dealer is out of stock too. Last year when I changed, I think I paid close to $90 for both OEM filters.

Now the same filters are $140+...Had I known that a year ago, I'd bought about $100K works of filters, sat on them in my garage for a few months then sold them on Amazon for a tidy profit

My buddy does repairs and maint. on heavy equipment for a number of company's. Some very common filters and even diesel oil are sometimes hard to find. I strongly suggest people who do their own work keep at least one future oil/filter change worth of supplies on hand.
This goes for trans filters too, especially the Aisin (don't know about Allison and others but would play it safe).

x2. I couldn't swallow the dealers price of around $300+ for two filters changed so I bought them from Geno's and did it myself.

I am the same. I simply can't justify the blatant bend you over pricing.

Fact is it's not a hard job to do any of the above.

You may try ordering from dieselfiltersonline.com as they stock the MOPAR version. I ordered 6 Motorcraft filters from them recently.
