Really having a tough time understanding tow info

What truck do you own? Manufacturer, model, engine? What is GVWR and RAWR (rear axle weight rating)...placard on drivers side door jamb will give you this information...
odds are, you will get better/more information if we have more information...Are you wanting to tow a pop-up, a travel trailer, a 5th. wheel, etc....
You're not tying up the forum, it's pertinent information you want and that's what this is for.
One thing you will need to do is load up your truck like you were going camping, full tank of fuel, family, pets, whatever you would take, and see what it weighs...from there it's some simple math and a little common sense and you'll be able to understand the numbers better, (dealing with tongue weight, pin weight, or how heavy of a camper you can tow safely.
Jim- Need to be a little more specific. Are you referring to "all" of the weight ratings of a vehicle, or just the "tow rating"?
FWIW, manufacture's tow ratings are NOT based upon the vehicle pulling a Travel Trailer (TT), but rather a trailer without (or very little) tongue weight. A good example is the Tundra/Space Shuttle episode.
TT's are designed to have about 12 to 15% of the TT's total weight on the tongue. This design is calculated to maximize the towing characteristics of the trailer.
Give us a little better idea of where you are confused.

Most of the truck or SUV manufacturers do a good job with their towing guides. Most are on line. Start there for your tow vehicle and it will be explained.- Get this Towing Guide pdf:
Trailer Magazine
That will get you the basics and you'll be able to ask questions from there.
