On my 11 Ram Dually I added PacBrake bags. I could not tell any difference running them at 5psi or not having them at all.

Another good option is do what I did and put on an onboard air system so you can change the ride quality whenever you want, empty or loaded and on the fly.

Either way, 0-5psi will affect ride quality none to very little.
Lowering tire pressure to the proper pressures rather than the gubmint mandated bullchit will do more for ride quality than any other 5minute excercise.

I added airbags to my 3500 Ram, I couldn't tell any ride difference, but it was pretty rough to begin with, being a 1 ton. Running the tires down to 50 psi in the rear ,and 60 in the front helps mine when not towing. Hooked up towing my fifth wheel with the tires aired up, very smooth ride .

I doubt you will tell much difference with 5 psi in the airbags, keep your tires air downed a little bit , and you should be fine when not towing.

Timbrens are another great option.

My Air Lift Loadlifter 5000 bags with bumpers have a minimum 5 lb psi recommendation. I think it is more about retaining the shape than bottoming out.

The 5 psi thing is a reccomendation for airbags that don't have bump stops in them, to prevent possible pinching the bag if you bottom out the suspension.
In reality, that doesn't matter drivin empty becasue you're not going to bottom out the rear suspension unless you get seriously Airborne!

So, no, airbags woildnt reduce your ride quality when empty if you leave them empty.

FWIW I agree that the coils give a really nice ride and handling balance for a HD truck. Don’t worry about any keyboard warriors you may encounter. People get all frothed up here all the time about the topic but it really makes no difference in the real world.
