- stufarmerExplorerBig fan of EBC Green Stuff pads. And no Brake Dust !!
- Iraqvet05ExplorerI run Wagner brand on all my vehicles. If you get AC Delco, find the part number and get them on Amazon.
- gopherslayerExplorerOriginal pads and rotors still look good at 156k but the back side of the rotors have rust build up so was going to replace the works instead of turning the rotors. I'm going to price getting them turned. If it's cheap enough I'll go that route and replace the pads. I came this issue because my abs would cycle at low, almost stopped speed. Pulled the abs sensors to sand the rust off the hubs and found the rotor issue. Calipers and slides are still good just need pads and rotors.
- Grit_dogNavigatorOnly experience with aftermarket pads I have is with EBC. Last round, put EBC s on both the car and truck. I like them. Low dust (ceramic) and bit better stopping power (maybe just because my wallet was lighter at the time, but they stop good).
I'd reccomend them. If for no other reason than brake dust. I hate brake dust. - alaska511ExplorerAnother vote for stock.
We have our old 2001 Tahoe that we bought new, and it is now our "spare" rig. It still has the original pads. I think they will go 250K - ktmrfsExplorer IIstay with the OEM GM pads. I've tried other aftermarket pads on all brands of vehicles and with the exception of german cars, OEM worked best. On german cars, going with Akebono's eliminated brake dust without any other downsides.
So.... Akebono's would be my second choice.
BTW on my 2004.5 LLY duramax, it turned 150K and the OEM pads look to be good to at least 200K miles. I know two others with 2500HD's duramax trucks that went over 250K miles before needing pads.
A big difference compared to my s-10 that would barely get 25K out of a set of pads. - edatlantaExplorerMy Sierra 2500HD has the original brakes and 175,000 on the odo. Yeah, I'm easy on brakes, but when the time comes I'm going with original OEM. Sometimes a modification isn't an upgrade except in the eyes of the one who spent the money.
- Passin_ThruExplorerI run Ceramic Pads. Much better braking and cooling on mountain grades.
- ScottGNomadI've run several different brands but in the end I really like Power Stop Z36 (carbon ceramic). They give a much better initial bite and better overall braking power.
Some will say they use nothing but stock but when a bunch of deer run out in front of us with the TT attached, I want every bit of brake I can get and these blow away stock pads. They also have low dust and no noise. - austingtaExplorerNice truck. If it's the first brake job, that's an easy one. Go with totally stock GM parts again.
