not the just the pump. you have to pull out and replace all the fuel lines, filters, injectors, fuel tank etc to clear all metal debris from the engine and fuel system.
I am replacing the pump to avoid grenading the engine and incurring that cost
Buzzcut. Check out the S&S diesel CP4 bypass kit. It's a modification to the pump that keeps a grenaded pump from pushing the contaminated fuel downstream to the engine.
I do t have experience with it, but it appears to be absolutely ingenious and how the CP4 should have been built to begin with.
$350 is a cheap alternative to trashing all the injectors.
I wonder if the 4.2 has this design or not???
