Not quite true. I used to have a F-150 with stick shift. I had a remote starter on that truck. You had to put the trans in neutral and set the parking brake and push a button on the remote start before you turned it off. If you didn't push the button before turning it off, it wouldn't turn on. That is the safety mechanism that it used to ensure the operator didn't accidentally leave it in gear when it was turned off. It was kind of a hassle though.
