Remove sliding Basement Tray on Arctic Fox?

Does anybody know how to remove th sliding basement tray on Arctic Fox campers? I keep the "legos" I use for leveling in the tray and it looks like I have lost a couple in the back. I'm not sure how I'm even going to get them out way back there but the first step is to remove the tray and it's got me stumped.

  • just put the blocks in a draw string bag then put the bag in the drawer

Hey BR, ever get your Joey Drawer out?

No. Didn't seem I could get the leverage to get it out. Decided to just go anyway as the blocks weren't causing problems.

We were in the Bad Lands and it was raining (of course) and the drawer wouldn't close up because more lego leveling blocks having "bounced out" during some of the dirt roads we had been on. Took the broom we carry and the awning rod that came with the awning to reach up and pull it down. Taped them together to make a long pole with the "hook" end of the awning rod on the end. Pulling the tray out to the max and using a flash light to see I was able to fish all of the blocks that had fallen out of the tray into the compartment out to the point I could reach in and grab them. Worked pretty well.

Thinking about maybe drilling a hole in each end of the tray and them stretching a long cord over the top to try and keep the blocks in the tray.

Are you sure it's not the typical slide drawer where you fully extend it out and then lift to get it over stops and pull out some more? I never had to remove mine and just assumed they were set up the same way.

While I haven't actually removed mine, as it was explained to me, the drawer extended fully has a lot of leverage placed on it, hence the procedure to remove it while almost all the way in. Maybe someone who has more experience with this will chime in.

  • Pretty tricky to do I'm told, but can be done. You should look at the battery tray first to see how that is removed, the "Joey" drawer is the same principle, albeit on a larger scale. You'll need to pull it out 6-8"? to line the rear rollers (at the front of the camper) up with the cut outs in the track. Then using a lever and fulcrum you'll need to lift the rear (again, the rear of the drawer being at the front of the camper) of the drawer to lift the rear rollers out of those cut outs and slide the drawer out. I got this advice from my dealer when I had some issues with the drawer not sliding easily, but some shimming at the access door end fixed it so I didn't actually have to remove it. Good luck!
