- sleepyExplorerI would like to remove the consol....
- sabconsultingExplorerYes, we did this. Here is a thread about this from MacHof, including a picture of our supercab with the rear seat removed stuffed full of every thing under the sun:
Clicky...
Steve. - Peg_LegExplorerI knew one that took out the console in the front and converted the back seat into a sleeper cab.

If your truck camper is BIG you might not need the extra space... many of us enjoy it... we travel for months at a time and the back seat area is our attic. - CyborgieExplorerOur Tundra's back seat is split and folds up flush against the back rest. Plenty of room.

I'm thinking of taking out my back seats in my double cab so I have more storage when I have the TC on the truck. There's just two of us so I don't really need the seating.
Do a lot of you do that? Or not? And why?
thanks
gave me more room for bulky items and took some weight off of rear axle - sleepyExplorerOne of the guys that gets on this forum occasionally took the rear seat out of his 2005 GMC 1 ton crew cab. He did a very nice job. the floor was uneven where attachments, etc were.
He used wood to make a frame of minimal height... making sure that the frame was straight and level... no twists. He notched out where the frame crossed uneven areas.
He bought the largest diamond plate aluminum box that would fit in the space without removing the trucks doors to get it inside and on the frame. He bolted it in place with carriage bolts... the nuts inside the box for security. He added trays so that he could lift out whole areas to get to the ones underneath, he has sporting equipment racks in mounts under the lid. He can open the lid and quickly get to his equipment.
He has very secure locking system with only the key hole(s) exposed.
The box is about as deep as from the bottom of the door windows to the floor of the truck.
The wooden frame is just a spacer
He has a "rug" made up like a fitted sheet that fits over the top of the box... it matches the trucks carpeting. His dog rides up there... seems to like it. Guards the box, the truck, and the family. - kerry4951ExplorerI would but my best buddy (Clubber the boxer) needs his seat too.
- GeewizardExplorerWell, I just took them out. 15 minutes and 6 bolts. LOTS of room.
Thanks for the input everyone.
