Replacing Lance TC Connector

Getting ready to pick up the Lance 880 I just purchased. My truck was set up by the original owner to tow a 5er and is equipped with a Pollack 9 pin round connector like this:
9 pin round connector
On my earlier Lance 981 that I used on this truck the dealer made a pigtail that adapted the Lance plug on the TC to the 9 pin round. Unfortunately I forgot to salvage this when I sold the camper so it's long gone. I just priced the Lance socket to make a new one and it's ridiculously expensive, at least from a local RV store. It's a bit cheaper online but still overpriced.
It's main "advantage" over a standard 7 pin blade RV connector seems to be the ability to have two 8 ga wires so that adequate current can be supplied from the TV to the camper for the 3 way reefer to run on battery while traveling. The connector in my truck bed also has this same ability so I can't see much of a down side in replacing the Lance connector as long as I save it so it can be reinstalled if (when) I sell the TC.
Am I missing something?
Thanks.

I use that same connector on my BigFoot camper because you can run 8ga. for the charging circuit. Works out great for me.

Thanks. I just picked up the connector at my local RV parts store, so that's what I'm going to do sometime his weekend.

Just curious link showed is the male connector, you said thats what is on truck? not receptacle female end?

Nope receptacle is on the truck, but the receptacle has the pins, the connector for the trailer has holes (female).
  • See no reason not to. A lot to gain, Just match function/location to how truck is wired...wonder how many on truck side aren't used- give at least 1 spare for addition later.

Good point. If the socket in the bed were anything but this 9 way I would be concerned, but it has the same capability as the Lance connector.
