When you buy it, you should get the thread. They have two weights, and you want the thicker one. I couldnt figure out if I needed the straight needle or the curved one, but ended up using the straight ones. You will probably go through a 4-6 if you stitched all 14 ft, so you might look around for someplace that also sells extra needed (REI does not seem to)
