Not a very safe thing to do anyway.

Each facility is protected by security personnel during evening and nighttime hours. Most of the rest areas provide family restrooms for travelers who may need companion assistance to make use of the facilities. The facilities in our Welcome Centers and Interstate Rest Areas are open and maintained 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for your comfort and convenience. The State of Florida's Welcome Centers, Rest Areas and Turnpike Service Plazas are generally equipped with public pay phones for use by travelers; facilities that do not offer pay phone services are equipped with call boxes to be used in case of emergency. Overnight camping is not permitted, but visitors may stay for up to three hours.

So we sleep in the day time and travel at night. My eye sight ain't so good at night. How am I going to tell if I just hit a deer or a pedestrian? It ain't safe to stop and look. Oh well, I guess I'll just stop at a campground and get a good nights sleep with out worrying about being evicted.

don't know if you will ever make it to Oregon but they passed a law against it but then the truckers started parking on the side of the freeways to sleep. And I mean miles of trucks on the side of the road. the law was repealed with in weeks.

I think most States prohibit overnight stays in rest areas - with that said I park with the trucks, turn on my generator to mask the noise, and go to sleep for 5 hours or so and never had an issue. I think the intent of the rules is to allow you to rest but not use as a campground or temporary home.

Enjoy the rest areas, most with free wi-fi.

Travel the sideroads, and enjoy Texas roadside parks and picnic areas for 24 hours. Many roadside parks are nicer than many campgrounds. i.e., Santa Ana roadside park, just one of many.

Oh yea, no hookups.

Traveling across TN over the last several years, we have always used some nice TN rest areas for the night without any problems.

Actually, we have not had a problem using any rest area in any state while traveling over the last century, well almost! 2/3 century.

Traveling since 76', always use rest areas, roadside parks when going from A to B.

Not getting evicted would be the least of your worries. Using a CG is the best option

Please relate what has happened to you in a rest area. I am curious. Please do not give a friend of mines friend had something happen.What is it that makes you leery.

Campgrounds can be unsafe as well
