The Goodyear Marathon is now a discontinued product but no doubt there are thousands if not tens of thousands on dealers shelves still available for sale. Your assessment is naive - retailers
buy their stock and once they
own it they have total control over what they do with it and not unlike any other product will choose to market whatever stock they may still have. Goodyear has nothing to do with it. :R
