Correct! Once the retailer owns the product he/she will attempt to market it.
But I have control of my pocket book and have the option of buying a better product or shop for a better price. We are in charge as consumers. If Walmart wants to take the chance of a civil suit knowing they are selling a defective product, that's their business. If I owned the company I would request Goodyear exchange the product for a safer product or loose business at our stores. Goodyear and Walmart are in bed together and depend on each other.

To quote your own words - "But I have control of my pocket book and have the option of buying a better product or shop for a better price. We are in charge as consumers."
Clearly you weren't when buying these Marathons. ;)
The Marathon is no more "defective" than any of the hundreds of other brands of trailer tires for sale around the world and as already pointed out in this thread others haven't had any issues at all with their own Marathons. :S

Until you have some empirical experience to back that up, I'd leave that one alone. Yes light duty trailer tires are more prone to abuse and blowouts than car tires in general, but GY discontinued them for a reason. They suck!
Nonsense - where's your "empirical data" to prove "they suck"? - I guess the best technical term you could come up with? :W Unless you're a member of the Goodyear management team that made the decision to discontinue production of the Marathon you have no idea why that decision was made, the reasons for which can be many, with a few hundred reported failures per millions sold being way down that list of reasons. My reference to those that have experienced failures vs those that haven't is merely anecdotal, the same as is your reference to "about 100 mastercraft boat owners" - only those affected care, those millions of others who have purchased this tire over the years it was available and haven't had any issues would disagree. Your post is yet the same old, unsubstantiated song repeated ad nauseam by those who have no access to the true facts of the matter. :S
