Romex and Outlets

I have removed my microwave a d I certainly don't have that mess. I have an actual outlet recessed into the upper panel.
That is so against any electrical code I know of. If that is the way the factory wired that, they should be reported. I see wire nuts with no junction box. That is not safe.

Not going to use a microwave at all?. I would just build aa shallowbbox across thr back to concel the wires, drop the mw plug box into it and leave it. One thing, that outlet may well be on a seperate CB, which could be useful.

X2! I certainly hope my trailer wiring doesn't look like that behind the microwave!

therink pretty much covered it. The sad part is a lot of them are wired this way. My previous Jayco TT almost burned up because of this stuff.

That wiring was up to RVIA standards with the microwave in place. To use it for storage all the wiring and receptacles need changed.

You might want to frame an inner false wall to hide the receptacles and wiring. The romex is just fine. The wire nuts is on the 12VDC cables only...

You may have to remove the wiring and replace with longer cables to get them to dress around the inner wall...

If that is not possible using those RV type receptacles you may want to also put in a false bottom in this area as well. Shouldn't be that hard to hide all of the wiring and make a nice enclosed storage area...

I for one would not like to have those wires visible if I was going to make this a storage area...

Thanks for the replies. The wires with the red nuts are what went to the vent hood which has also been removed. It did not vent to the outside and was useless. The picture was taken before I taped them. There is plenty of slack in all of the wiring to relocate it all to the back. I just want to make sure that what is there is safe before I hide it behind a false wall. What would you suggest I do different before I hide it behind a panel?

FWIW, it appears you have three receptacles in that space. Those RV/mobile home receptacles are very prone to loose connections if you start moving those wires around.

I would probably eliminate the microwave receptacle completely.

I would remove the other two receptacles and replace with an "old work box" and residential/commercial receptacles. I would put the Romex in Wiremold surface mount conduit.

Sounds like a good plan, thanks. I would need to trace the microwave receptacle all the way back to eliminate it correct? If I cannot do that what is another alternative?

Your safest bet is to clamp all those wires to the back wall, insert a panel to cover them and load the storage area carefully.
