Roo 23IKSS

If you stop for lunch can you use this unit without opening slides?
  • We have two kids aged 6 and 2. Mom says no way on two tent hybrid. It's solaire 213x or roo233s
  • That's an awesome model. When it first came out it seemed THE PERFECT floorplan, but then lots of folks starting looking at things that would be deal breakers for them and the access was at the top of the list. Agree that it's a quick job to open one slide and that may work for you. We generally make lunch a real break and eat at something where it's served in a box, so our road stops would be bathroom breaks and to just pull off the road and have to open a slide for access would not work.

One other consideration was that you lose a good bit of your patio/outside area with the second slide on the curb side. May be a problem for you, maybe not. It would for us.

Opinion is that you really need to consider how you travel and how you camp. Neither of these may make any difference in your case and for sure, it's a great looking, roomy hybrid. Suggest you try to find one on a lot and actually go through the motions as if you owned it and see for sure. Spend some time without the salesman if possible. They love to steer you away from anything you might not consider a positive. Also, if you have kiddos, this visit you may want to bring them - as opposed to my usual suggestion of dropping them at grandmas - so you can get a feel for how it works with all of you there. Good luck, it's a great looking hybrid.
  • I transport 2 mt bikes, 25 gallon portable tank, laundry basket of clean bedding, coleman exponent folding kitchen, and other stuff inside the hybrid. I have full access to bath, kitchen, and dinette with all that gear in on the floor. Not being able to do any of that kills the 23ikss for us.

Not really. You have a fairly big open area in front of the couch, but you can't get to the kitchen (or bathroom)without opening the kitchen slide. That slide isn't very deep and its on the curb side, so we open it wherever we are. In a rest stop, the camper is still between the lines in parallel spots with the slide open.

This "drawback" seems to get a lot of discussion, mainly from people who don't own one - but it takes less than 30 seconds to open the slide. We always use the camper for lunch on the road. Not really an issue IMO, and space you gain from the 2 slides when parked is totally worth it.
  • Every hybrid I have heard of can be accessed while being turtled.
