Rough Surface Camper Dolly Works!
Thanks for the input on my "rough surface" camper dolly project a couple weeks back. It worked!
I built a heavy wood frame using 2x10's, 2x6's and 4x4's, and attached 10 of those Harbor Freight 10" pneumatic casters to it.
First design had the casters spaced evenly. Ended up rearranging some casters to account for the cabover weight.
I couldn't get it to move at first, and figured it was "GAME OVER." Turns out that the wheels had dug into the gravel a little when I positioned the dolly under the camper. One good shove, and it rolled away.
When all the casters are pointed in the same direction, it rolls easy. Changing direction can be a little challenging, but it's better than not being able to move the camper at all.
I've got some video of the actual move that I'll be putting up on youtube in a day or so.
