Rv antifreeze

Had our pink stuff freeze pretty solid in the toilet last winter with many well below zero days, no damage to any water lines though.

Case in point is good old manual ice cube trays which with sides that slope and no top the ice is free to push its way UP the tray mold until completely frozen.

Water lines or any place that there is not enough space for the expansion is where you run into problems.. and hence the reason to remove the water (blow out the lines with air)and or replace the water with something that has very little freezing expansion..

Fair enough. That's true. My dogs water pan is steel and it doesn't break. This was a ice cream pail and every time I tried to use one of them for a dog pail in the winter it froze and broke. Maybe it's just because it's such cheap plastic.

Happened to me also. Slush but not frozen solid or expanded. No problem. I was worried at first not familiar with RV antifreeze thinking it was like car.

I did an experiment by putting a 50/50 mix of AF and water in the freezer. Slush, but not frozen solid. It's normal.

Slushing is normal.

Slushing is normal and can be expected depending on how cold it gets.

The difference between RV "antifreeze" and plain water is in the EXPANSION.

RV antifreeze has a very low expansion ratio..

The expansion is what really does the damage to water lines and fixtures and controlling the amount of expansion goes a long way in preventing pipes from splitting..

Totally normal!

There was no water. I blew out the system with air first.
