shock absorbers

Need to replace the shocks on our truck. 2012 Ram 3500 4x4 long box club cab 6.7 all factory stock
information I can find leads me Bilstein, the input I need is the difference between the 4600 and the 5100 as to construction specs, performance, how long will they last and helpful input positive or negative and any other suggestions.

thanks, Bob
  • thanks to everybody who responded.
I will go with the 4600 Bilsteins and I am a regular customer of Genos so will probably buy from them.

    Thanks again
  • If you're stock height, which appears so, go with 4600's. 5100's are for leveled/lifted trucks. Genos garage is running a sale on bilstein 's this month.
  • Bilstein 4600 on my 2010 Ram 3500 Megacab. Was told they are the heavy duty of Bilstein line for use when a heavy camper is carried. Figured my 2600 lb pinweight qualifies as a load.
  • I had 5100's on my 12 Ram CTD 2500. I had 30,000 on them. I replaced the rears after they felt a little bouncy. I switched to KYB Monomax. I like them better. They feel more solid than 5100's. I have the 5100's on because I have a 2" leveling kit on the front otherwise I would just use the 4600. 5100's are mainly for guys that lift or level.
