You are right in the fact that is their truck to do with as they wish. However from my experiences with the types, the main reason they do it is to say "Hey, look at me". They love getting positive accolades from people, but can't seem to handle people not liking it. If you are going to put it out there for people to say "hey, look at me" then you better be able to take the good with the bad. Keep in mind these are the same people that used to make fun of ricers with their huge exhausts and then turned around a few years later putting 10" diameter exhaust tips on their truck.
On the flip side to this, it is my eyeballs, and if I have to see it then I will be.......
