Slide out problem

Hello everyone we have a 2014 265rbss, after our third trip we brought it back to the dealer for some warranty work. 1 being the slide out binding on one side while coming in. After supposedly being fixed we had the same problem on the very next trip.

I know this has been discussed before and I have read previous threads as well as watched the Schwintek videos but none address if the slide is binding on one side.

My question is if anyone has had this problem and what resolved it. I would rather work on it myself rather than have it at the dealer for another 3-4 weeks. I'm wondering if this could be a timing issue or something else. Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Thanks everyone, I'll give the lube and re timing a try and if that doesn't do it I'll bring it in.
  • Our's use to bind, then the axle on the slide motor sheered off. (not the pin). The welds were not complete on the axle, actually there was only one tack weld instead of a solid bead, like the other one had. The warranty covered that repair.

My suggestion, take it back to the dealer. We were lucky our's broke as we were pulling the slide in to head out for spring break, not on the way down the road!
  • My Schwintek slide also would bind up on one side, so slide would stop. After some research, I found on you tube how to lube the tracks and motor. It fix the problem. I just finished 5 week trip with no more problems. Hope this helps.

  • After trying to get my POS Suburban oven for the past 8 months under warranty I have come to the conclusion that in many cases the warranty is worth less than the paper it is written on - aside from the fact that dealerships don't like warranty work for any number of reasons. IOW I can understand the OP's dilemma and desire to get on with it. Time is money and these RV warranty projects is not the same as auto warranty repairs - not by a long shot.

Then there is the quality of the fix by the dealer technician - sometimes they can cause new problems. Don't ask me how I know.

OP - good luck getting the slideouts fixed.
  • I agree with above poster, its under warranty, let them fix it. Set up an appointment when you can bring it in, the day they can actually able to begin working on it. My dealer is excellent at this. Make an appointment, bring it in the morning, and usually pick it up the following Saturday. ABSOLUTELY do not give them any reason to void the warranty, don't DIY until your year warranty is over. You'll be sorry if you do, it will never be right.
  • You got a warranty!

    Let them work on it.

don't give them a reason to say... DIY not covered.
  • Not good and sorry to hear about it. Luckily we have had no problems with any of our slides...

Just another thought..slide could possibly bind if you are not fairly level or if you have cranked down one or more stabilizer jacks too hard and have tweaked the frame slightly....

But, I did learn from negative experiences that I should check/test and re-test any work or repairs that a dealer does before I leave the lot or write the check....I'm sure you did do that.
